Matthew Good Background
Before striking out
on his own, alternative musician and songwriter Matthew Good served as the frontman of the Matthew Good Band (MGB). The band
took shape in 1995 and instantly ignited some buzz on the Canadian music scene. The band called it quits in 2002. A year later,
his first solo effort arrived, called Avalanche. Shifting away from the style of the MGB, the album highlighted the Vancouver
Symphony Orchestra on multiple singles. Good's sophomore album, White Light Rock & Roll Review, dropped in the early summer
of 2004. The politically fueled album yielded tracks like "It's Been a While Since I Was Your Man" and "Alert Status Red."
In 2005, In a Coma: Matthew Good 1995-2005 was issued, featuring material from both his solo career and his tenure with the
Matthew Good Band. Hospital Music followed in 2007, covering dark topics like divorce and cancer. Live at Massey Hall was
released in 2008 and served as Good's very first live album. Good's next album was Vancouver, which came in 2009. The album
exemplifies Good's feelings about his native Vancouver. In 2011, Lights of Endangered Species dropped, which featured tunes
like "In a Place of Lesser Men." Good's latest effort is Arrows of Desire, which includes the track,"Had It Coming."

Although Matthew Good has earned several Junosover the
years, including Rock Album of the Year (2011 Juno Awards); Video of the Year for Weapon (2002 Juno Awards) and more, he has
negated to accept any of his honors. He said, "When it... isn't kind of this weekend when the Canadian music industry pretends
that it's... not just marketing warehouses for the United States, then sure, I'll be a part of it."
Another fun fact
about Matthew Good is that he is additionallyan avid blogger and writer. He published At Last There Is Nothing Left To Say
(2001), which is a compilation of what are considered to be Good's "manifestos" from the MGB's website. And, seven years later,
he developed Dear San Diego, a website that showcases his untrue journal accounts. "It comes from the need inside of me to
make fun of people. And my need to make fun of myself. I like writing things that are both intelligent and subversive. There's
so much for me to write about - society has become so absolutely ridiculous," Good said.
