Matthew Knight Arena History
Matthew Knight Arena is the Eugene, Oregon home of the University of Oregon Ducks
basketball team since 2011 when the venue first opened. It was built to replace the old Ducks home of McArthur Court and is
named for the University of Oregon's main donator Phil Knight's son Matthew who died in a scuba diving accident at the age
of 34. The first game held at the arena was a game between the Oregon Ducks and the USC Trojans which the Ducks won 68-62.
The court is well known for the trees painted on the hardwood which are supposed to represent the forests in Oregon and the
home crowd regularly gives the Ducks a considerable home court advantage.
