Meat Puppets Concert Tickets

1980's by barreling headfirst into the noisy, raucous, furious underground with ripping guitar sounds, thundering drumbeats,
and feral vocals that betrayed their accomplished musical technique in favor of a sound that would eventually make them legends.
With fifteen studio albums spread across their 30-plus year career, Meat Puppets remain one of the forefront bands in the
music scene. Now, with a brand new album and an upcoming tour, StubHub offeres concert tickets

Founded in Phoenix, Arizona in January of 1980, Meat Puppets was originally
comprised of brothers Curt Kirkwood, who plays guitar and vocals, and Cris Kirkwood, who plays bass guitar, along with their
friend Derrick Bostrom who filled in on drums. They were almost immediately signed to the iconic SST Records, where they made
a niche for themselves by blending punk rock with country and psychedelic rock stylings with Curt Kirkwood's idiosyncratic
vocals. The band spent the 1980's touring around the punk rock circuit, embracing the scene wholeheartedly through their release
of their first 8 albums, Meat Puppets, Meat Puppets II, Up on the Sun, Out My Way, Mirage, Huevos, Monsters, and Forbidden
Places. Their prolific, if not mainstream, success introduced Meat Puppets to some of the other hottest bands of the era,
including The Violent Femmes, Gun Club, and, most famously, Nirvana.
Meat Puppets Rock Tickets
between Meat Puppets and Nirvana is one that will go down in history as one of the most successful, if not the most mutually
beneficial, endeavor in the punk rock/grunge scene. During Nirvana's performance on MTV Unplugged, Kurt Cobain invited the
Kirkwood brothers to join them on stage for renditions of Meat Puppet songs "Plateau," "Oh Me," and "Lake of Fire." The recordings
of that legendary performance were one of the last before Cobain's untimely death, and the success of Nirvana's subsequent
MTV Unplugged in New York album and the next Meat Puppets album Too High To Diecatapulted Meat Puppets to mainstream success.
The trappings of fame and fortune soon became too much for the band, and after a tour supporting the Stone Temple Pilots,
the majority of the Meat Puppets were addicted to a number of illegal drugs and called for the first hiatus in 1996.
