It seemed to be a match made in hip hop Heaven when rapper Gerard Long (Hodgy Beats) and producer Vyron Turner (Left Brain)
met at a party. Long was looking for a producer to mix his music and Turner was looking for an up-and-coming rapper to produce.
Almost instantly the two began collaborating and churning out hit-worthy tracks. Although the two were both featured on two
mixtapes put out by the group Odd Future-which consists of Beats, Brain and Domo Genesis-their big break as MellowHype came
when they released their first studio album YelloWhite. After the release of their first album, they began working on a second
album, and also collaborated with other top name artists like Mike G and Domo Genius. They released their second album BlackenedWhite
in October of 2010, which was free to fans online. Although they had already gained much popularity through their first two
albums, they became even more popular when they were featured in Tyler, The Creator's single Yonkers. And they weren't just
performing and recording with fellow rappers. They were also gaining experience performing with other genre bands including
the grunge band labelmates Bass Drum of Death. They began working on their third album in 2011, and released several sneak
previews of their beats via Hodgy Beats' tumblr page. They released a mixtape of brand new, cutting edge tracks every day
for a week in September of 2012 that included guest appearances by Domo Genesis and Juicy J. Their third album Numbers was
released in October of 2012, and garnered much success. These versatile music magicians have been creating hits since the
day they met. Don't miss out on hearing them in person! Buy your MellowHype
