Nashville, Tennessee

If you don't know anything about Nashville, Tennessee, it's probably time to change that by actually just going and seeing it all for yourself. This is a city that has more character than just about any city in the world, as it's famous for its world-classic musical scene that has been the home for some of the greatest musicians in history. These days, the enthusiasm of the good ole days has carried into the new, where you can find an unbelievable mix of melodies and genres that still makes it a haven for the top talents to hone their craft.

Ever since Robert Altman brought it altogether with his groundbreaking film Nashville, the secret has pretty much been out about what amazing thrills this city has to offer, as you simply won't find another place like it no matter how much you love to travel. Once you've been there, you'll be looking to go back much sooner than later – particularly if you make it out to Memorial Gym on the Vanderbilt campus.

Memorial Gym Seating Layout

Whether you're on the right, left or somewhere in the center, you're bound to get a great show. No, we're not talking about governmental impasses and political theater; we're talking about the elegant seating arrangement of Memorial Gym. There isn't a bad seat in the house, which is something that you really won't understand until you actually make it out to see it for yourself. Once you're there watching one of your favorite musicians, the last thing you'll be thinking about is your seat, however, as you'll be jumping out of it all too often from one ballad to the next as a great musician brings the house down.

Memorial Gym Trivia

Do you know that the Memorial Gym has been the backdrop for the SEC men's basketball championship two times? Yup, the top teams in the SEC came together both in 1984 and in 1991, delivering some big-time memories as some of the best players around traded baskets and routinely brought fans to their feet.

More than that, though, it has even hosted rounds of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, an event that is typically regarded as one of the very best sporting events in the entire world. The annual college hoops tournament was played at the Memorial Gym in '73, '82, '89 and '93, helping make college basketball one of the staples of the Nashville scene and, of course, the University of Vanderbilt campus. Even though we all know that Vanderbilt is known for its academic prowess, they also can absolutely bring it on the hardwood, which is something that you'll understand loud and clear if you make it out to some of their biggest matchups of the season. There's nothing quite like being in the stands when the game is on the line and the Commodores are digging in, but that's not something that you're going to figure out sitting at home.
