Memphis Tigers Football Schedule in 2014

If you're looking for a top-tier sporting event, you're definitely in the right spot, as the Memphis Tigers have another star-studded team that certainly isn't going to go quietly in the their new conference. The Tigers are set to join the American Athletic Conference, a new conference in college football, and want to show their new conference foes that they mean business. The Tigers are coming off a tough 2013 season in which they were only able to win three games, but every Tigers fan knows that this program won't accept another year of that. This roster is filled with talented players ready to make their mark on their new conference and college football as a whole. Come out and see if the Tigers have what it takes to rise to the top of the standings in games filled with ankle-breaking jukes, spectacular catches and eye-popping throws that will have you jumping out of your seat on a regular basis as the Tigers look to give their fans another amazing season of football.

The Tigers have a bevy of tough matchups on their home schedule this season, one of which will arrive on Halloween in the form of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Tulsa always seems to have some of the top players in the nation, and are often a well-coached bunch that know how to get the job done on the field. That means that the Tigers are going to have to bring their best to the table when the Golden Hurricane arrive. The Tigers don't want to get swept up in this storm; they want to stick to their game plan and make it happen in front of their home crowd.

Memphis will close things out at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium when the Connecticut Huskies hit the field there in what will be the Tigers' final home contest of 2014. The Huskies might be known for their prowess in hoops more than on the gridiron, but that does not mean this is a game to be taken lightly. The final home game of the regular season is always a game that fans love to come out to see in person, and the Tigers would love to give those fans the chance to see them finish 2014 out on a high note.

Memphis Tigers Football History

The Memphis Tigers football program dates back to 1912, when the Tigers first took to the field. That was the start of something big for the school, and the Tigers have had many memorable seasons since then. The team started out as a member of the Mississippi Valley Conference before moving on to play in SIAA and eventually the Missouri Valley Conference. In 1995 the team joined Conference USA, where they would remain until 2014 when they became a part of the new American Athletic Conference. The Tigers have won four conference championships over the course of the program's history, and have made it to six bowl games. The Tigers are looking to add to their illustrious history with another season of great football played out on the field.

Fan Experience

Being there in person to witness a college football game is always an amazing experience that you simply can't replicate from anywhere but your very own spot in the stadium. Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadiumhas been the backdrop for Memphis Tigers football since all the way back in the mid-1960s, providing plenty of thrills over the years as the Tigers have put together some amazing seasons. If you think you can get the full college football experience sitting on your couch and squinting at that disappointing little flatscreen, think again and then head out to a big game sure to be loaded with nail-biting moments. This is a great season to check out the Memphis Tigers in action.

Memphis Tigers Football Trivia

Did you know that the Memphis Tigers football team has two mascots?

That's right; the Tigers have Pouncer, who is their more traditionally-styled mascot, but they also have Tom III, who is a live tiger. Pouncer is there for the laughs, but Tom is there to show the strength of a Tiger.
