Memphis Grizzlies Trivia

What sibling of Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol also plays in the National Basketball Association?

The answer is Paul Gasol, who currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. These two brothers are two of the best big men in the NBA, quite an accomplishment for one family. These two players were born in Spain and first played overseas before coming to the United States to play in the NBA. Pau Gasol was taken with the second overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, one pick after Kwame Brown. Gasol actually played for the Grizzlies for the first part of his career before being traded to Los Angeles in a deal that included the rights to Marc Gasol, whom the Lakers had selected in the second round of the 2007 draft. Pau went on to help the Lakers win two championships as the second option on the team behind superstar Kobe Bryant. Marc Gasol has emerged as one of the most versatile centers in the league and was voted as the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year in 2013.

Memphis Grizzlies Postseason History

The Memphis Grizzlies don't have the longest history if playoff victories, but the team is hoping to change that as soon as possible. The Grizzlies are yet to capture their first division title, and the team is looking to win their first divisional crown in the near future. The Grizzlies made the playoffs for the first time in the franchise's history in the 2003-04 season. That year saw the team's head coach Hubie Brown win the Coach of the Year award and the team's general manager Jerry West win the NBA's Executive of the Year award. The team was swept in the first round, however, and would meet the same feat the next two seasons as well. The Grizzlies returned to the postseason after a big of a drought in 2010-11 and won the first playoff series in franchise history, taking down the San Antonio Spurs by a 4-2 margin. The Grizzlies had their best season in 2012-13, when they made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals. The Grizzlies were swept by the Spurs in that series, but it remains the furthest this organization has ever advanced in the playoffs. The Grizzlies are looking to reach the NBA Finals for the first time and earn their first NBA Championship.
