Memphis Grizzlies Team Info

The Memphis Grizzlies are looking to put together a big season in 2014-15, and they look to have the pieces in place to contend for one of the top spots in the Western Conference. The team made a big move this offseason by re-signing forward Zach Randolph. Randolph is one of the best big men in the league, a capable post scorer and monster on the boards that forms one half of one of the best frontcourt duos in the league. The other half of that tandem is Marc Gasol, the Spanish center that has had some great seasons for the Grizzlies. Gasol is one of the most skilled centers in the league and a great defensive anchor for this Memphis team. The club also has one of the best point guards in the National Basketball Association in Mike Conley, who took his game to the next level in 2013-14. Conley is a great floor general out there for the Grizz, and a steadying force when things get tough on the court. Memphis made some nice moves to get deeper this offseason, signing veteran guard Vince Carter. Carter was excellent coming off the bench in Dallas last season, and the Grizzlies are probably eyeing a similar role for him in Memphis. Memphis also looked to have a very nice draft, using their first-round pick to score UCLA guard Jordan Adams. Adams is a gifted scorer that has a nose for the basket, and his long-range shooting should prove to be a big addition to this Grizzlies team. Adams looks ready to come in and contribute meaningful minutes right away, something that could give this team a real boost. The club's second-round selection, forward Jarnell Stokes, also looks ready to contribute from day one, especially on the glass. The Memphis team should be even better in 2014-15 than they were last season, and fans are looking to see just how high they can climb in the conference ranks.

Memphis Grizzlies Trivia

How did the Memphis Grizzlies acquire center Marc Gasol?

The answer is via a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers. Marc actually wasn't even the most prized Gasol in the deal, as the younger Gasol brother had not yet played in the NBA at the time and the Lakers simply earned his rights after drafting him in the second round of the NBA Draft. Pau went to the Lakers, where he won multiple championships alongside Kobe Bryant, but Marc flourished into one of the best centers in the league after being what looked to be a throw-in in the trade. Seeing two brothers traded for one another is probably something that won't happen again in the NBA for a very long time.
