The Memphis Grizzlies - Schedule in 2013-14
The Memphis Grizzlies are ready to roar this season as they take to
the hardwood to defend their home court from some of the toughest teams the National Basketball League has to offer. The Grizzlies
have a solid team that has been to the postseason for several consecutive seasons, and the team is hoping that they can break
through and reach the Western Conference Finals in 2013-14. The Grizzlies play in the Southwest Division, a division that
features a number of good teams each and every year. This season should be no different, so the Grizzlies know that they're
going to have to elevate their level of play if they're going to capture the division crown. The Grizzlies finished second
in the divisional standings last season and earned the fifth seed in the conference playoffs. That's certainly a good year,
but the Grizzlies know they're capable of more. The team will lean heavily on their duo down low of Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph.
These two players form a two-headed monster on the block of which few teams can boast, giving Memphis a leg up inside against
most opponents. The Grizzlies have their work cut out for them this season if they're going to ascend to the upper echelon
of the Western Conference, and it will take a lot of big home victories to get the job done. There will be a ton of great
matchups at FedEx Forum this season, and Memphis hoops fans will pour into the arena to see the action unfold right before
their very eyes.
The Grizzlies will surely be looking forward to any time the San Antonio Spurs visit Memphis. The Spurs
won the Southwest Division last season and proceeded to make it all the way to the NBA Finals, where they fell just shy of
winning the whole thing. That makes them a real threat in the West yet again this season, and it's not going to be easy for
Memphis to leapfrog them in the standings. The Spurs have one of the best point guards in the National Basketball Association
in Tony Parker, a quick player that can get to the rim at will. Gasol must be ready down low to challenge Parker when he gets
by Mike Conley, which, despite Conley being a solid defender, is inevitable. The big boys down low will also have to fend
off future Hall-of-Famer Tim Duncan, who is still racking up the points and boards despite being in the twilight of his career.
The Spurs are going to be a challenge every time the head to FedEx Forum this season, but the Grizz will look to send them
back to Texas with a loss each and every time.
Another team within Memphis' division that poses a real threat to the
Grizzlies chances at the Southwest Division title is the Houston Rockets. The Rockets landed the biggest free agent on the
market in the offseason, signing center Dwight Howard. Howard is a game-changer on the defensive end, and while he's not an
elite threat from a scoring perspective he can still put the ball in the bucket. The Grizzlies will have to know where Howard
is on the floor at all times when they match up with Houston in 2013-14. The Grizzlies must also be aware of where guard James
Harden is. Harden has emerged as one of the best scoring threats in the NBA, and is a master at getting to the free throw
line. Houston will pose a real challenge to Memphis this season, and it should be interesting to see which team gets the better
of the other in the season series.
With Memphis Grizzlies are a professional basketball organization
that is a part of the National Basketball Association. The Grizzlies play in the Western Conference as a member of the Southwest
Division, a division that also features the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans.
The Grizzlies had a solid 2012-13 season but the team is looking to take the next step in 2013-14 and take a place among the
Western Conference's best. This team has one of the best centers in the league in Marc Gasol, a versatile big man that can
do just about anything on the court. Point guard Mike Conley has emerged as a reliable floor general that is still improving.
If the Grizzlies can see one player step up and take on the role of a star, it could make all the difference for this team.
The NBA boasts some of the best athletes on the planet on the court at every single tip-off, making
it an unbelievable experience for sports lovers all kinds. When you're there in the stands to see these playmakers hit the
court you'll understand why so many people around the country are always looking to gain access to arenas to see some of the
best athletes in the world.
