The hilarious show Menopause The Musical made its debut on March 28, 2001 in Orlando, Florida, with an original cast that included Shelly Browne as the Power/Professional Woman, Patti McGuire as the Iowa Housewife, Pammie O'Bannon as the Earth Mother, and Wesley Williams as the Soap Star. The Kathleen Lindsey-directed musical presented menopause with a sense of humor, and featured the cast of four women singing songs about hot flashes and chocolate cravings while shopping for lingerie in a department store. With songs like "Stayin' Awake" and "Puff, My God I'm Draggin'," women couldn't get enough of this laugh out loud musical that pokes fun about the "great change."

Menopause The Musical was written by Jeanie Linders, who set out to attract menopausal women, a group she felt was neglected by the mainstream. Menopause The Musical enjoyed successful Off-Broadway runs, and spawned a number of various productions across the country, including Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Denver, and Boston. Within just a few short years, the success of Menopause The Musical had crossed international borders, and productions started cropping up all over the world, including in South Africa, South Korea, the UK, Philippines, New Zealand, Malaysia, Italy, Israel, Canada, and Australia. Menopause The Musical has now visited cities from nearly every corner of the globe, and it has been performed for over 11 million people.
