Mercyme came together in 1994 when vocalist Bart Millard (who took up music after two broken ankles rendered him unable to follow in his brother’s footsteps as a football star) travelled to Europe with keyboardist Jim Bryson. They met guitarist Mike Scheuchzer and the trio settled in Oklahoma City where they formed Mercyme.
