Merle Haggard was born April 6, 1937 and grew up in California as a sort of wild child. When Haggard was 14, he ran away to Texas with a friend and got sent to juvenile hall. In 1960, Haggard was sentenced to prison but left 90 days later. Once he was out, Haggard started singing at the local Bakersfield clubs and getting his name known. Haggard's first single "Sing a Sad Song" went to the top of the charts and got his career started. Haggard is back on stage and you can get tickets today to see him live.
