Mets - Athletics

Mets Athletics

New York Mets-Oakland Athletics Matchups

Even though the Mets don't play in the same division and get a chance to see each other every season, that only makes their matchups even more important and intense, though that's not something you're going to figure out sitting at home watching on that disappointing little flatscreen. Don't even think about being left out of a great game filled to the brim with twists, turns and nail-biting moments as the Mets and A's battle it out on the diamond. The Mets and the Athletics are both looking to get to the top of their respective divisions, providing plenty of thrills that will have fans eagerly anticipating the first pitch of the game.

When the game is on the line and the crowd's intensity is rising with each pitch in the latter innings, there is no substitution for the stadium experience. Will you be there when your favorite player is strolling to the plate for a huge at-bat late in the game? You'll understand loud and clear the difference between watching from home and watching from the stands, as these guys need to be seen first-hand to be truly appreciated. Even across the country, the Mets and the A's have developed a nice rivalry thanks to both franchises having a revolving door of talent and great fan bases. Put them together and you're sure to see some big-time fireworks whenever the Mets and the Athletics hit the field.

New York Mets-Oakland Athletics Team Info

The Mets have always had a large and loyal fan base in New York, and they've traditionally been one of the best teams in the league thanks to a steady stream of talented ballplayers that know how to turn a game's direction on a dime. On the other side of the country in Oakland, the A's have also developed an unbelievable fan base for a reason, with World Series titles and plenty of all-time greats stacked in their history. In recent seasons, the A's have been the toast of the American League West, which is exactly what the Mets would love to duplicate on the other side of the country in the National League East. Whenever these two teams are in the middle of a nail-biter, you can count on there being more than a fair share of fireworks.

MLB Experience

As baseball has gotten more and more global, Major League Baseball remains the premier league, which is something you'll see for yourself if you get out to a great game loaded with the stars of both today and tomorrow. There is something special about being in the stands when your favorite team storms the diamond, though that's something that you have to see for yourself. Baseball has gained the reputation as America's Pastime for a reason, and it isn't because there is a lack of excitement from game to game. With two talented ball clubs on the field and a great group of fans at your side, you'll see that it doesn't get any better than Major League Baseball.

Mets-Athletics History

The Athletics franchise has spent time in both Philadelphia and Kansas City, but ever since 1968 the A's have been playing in Oakland and selling their MLB tickets to sport fans in the Bay Area. Over the years, the A's have won a bevy of World Series Championships, giving them a long and storied history of success. Some of their greatest players ever include Mark McGwire, Jimmie Fox, Rickey Henderson, Jose Conseco, Dave Stewart and many, many more.

Then there are the Mets, another prominent team that has had plenty of great players and memorable seasons over the years. Daryl Strawberry, Tom Seaver, Nolan Ryan and Keith Hernandez are only a small sample of the icons that have taken to the field in Queens to play for the Mets, and these days they have another talented roster loaded with some of the stars of both today and tomorrow. With the Mets looking to get back to the top of the division and the Athletics hoping to take the next step towards a title, these matchups are sure to be loaded with moments that you'll be glad to be a part of.

Mets-Athletics Trivia

Did you know that Dave Stewart was a two-time ALCS MVP for the A's?

When it came to October, Stewart was about as good as it gets. In 1990, Stewart helped the A's get to the World Series and was named the ALCS MVP, which came just a year after Stewart led the A's to a title by being the World Series MVP. In 1993, Stewart would again help out his team in a big way, being named as the ALCS MVP for the Blue Jays on the way to helping Toronto win their second straight title.

Mets-Athletics Fans

A's fans get their baseball tickets for seats at O.co Coliseum, which is routinely packed with tens of thousands of passionate fans that pour in to see the Athletics do their thing on the diamond. The Mets also have a great venue of their own in Citi Field, giving you a great place to see a big game whether this one is in Oakland or New York. When you're there in the middle of a close game that could go either way, you'll definitely get a chance to see what Mets-Athletics fans are all about.
