Mets - Rays

Mets Rays

New York Mets-Tampa Bay Rays Matchups

Baseball played at a high level is something to behold, and that's exactly what you're going to get when you get to see the Mets and Rays do their thing down on the diamond. Come out and see a great game loaded with twists, turns and nail-biting moments as some of the top players in the game hit the field looking to light up a great crowd. Though these two teams don't get a chance to play in the same division or league, there's still plenty of buzz around Mets-Rays matchups for a reason, and it definitely isn't because there is a lack of playmakers who can change the dynamic of a big game in a real hurry.

When the Rays and Mets are in the middle of a nail-biter, you can count on the entire country to be watching, though the best place to actually be is in the stands where you can join in the fanfare. With this level of superstar talent down on the field, absolutely anything can happen when the Rays and the Mets hit the field, but you're not really going to learn that from home. There may be lots of different ways to follow the Rays and Mets these days, but there is still nothing quite like actually being there with thousands of your fellow fans for all the crucial pitches of a big game.

New York Mets-Tampa Bay Rays Team Info

Even though the Tampa Bay Rays don't tend to have the highest payroll in the league, or even close, they've built a winning culture down in Tampa Bay that's based on fundamentals, great ballplayers coming into their own and clutch hitting/pitching that have all become staples of the franchise. With that formula, the Rays routinely are amongst the leaders in the A.L. East, which is not exactly easy considering they have to go up against the Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles and Blue Jays.

But one team that also has its fair share of prideful fans and talented teams is the New York Mets. The Mets have had plenty of great moments of their own over the years, and are always looking to pull it back together and get right back to the top of the league. When both of these teams are on the field at the same time, you're sure to be a part of an exciting game loaded with great defensive plays, big hits and bench-gripping moments that will have you glad that you're not anywhere else.

MLB Experience

Don't even think about missing out on a great game that you'll be talking about well after the final pitch. And part of the excitement comes from the level of matchup that you get down on the field, which is one of the main reasons to head out and see Rays-Mets whenever you can. These are two prominent ball clubs that have had their fair share of winning in the past, though a bright future keeps fans pouring into the stands on a regular basis. No matter how many options there are for following the Major League Baseball action these days, there's still only one way to truly appreciate.

Mets-Rays History

The Rays fans have seen their fair share of great major leaguers pass through Tropicana Field, notably Wade Boggs and Fred McGriff, but there are always a few stars that are looking to take their game to the next level. MLB tickets to see the New York Mets, on the other hand, were never hotter than in 1969, when the Miracle Mets won the World Series and put together a season that fans still talk about to this day. They even won another world championship in 1986, though Mets fans are waiting for them to return to the top of the league. Great players to dominate for the franchise include Daryl Strawberry, Doc Gooden, Tom Seaver, Keith Hernandez and more, and you never know when the next all-time great is going to burst onto the scene. Put these two franchises together on the field and anything can happen.

Mets-Rays Trivia

Did you know that Carl Crawford holds the Rays' record for both stolen bases and triples in a season?

Stealing 60 bases in 2009 and smacking 19 triples in 2004, Crawford showed the perfect combination of hitting prowess and speed, making him one of the most dangerous players in the history of the franchise in the process.

Mets-Rays Fans

Tropicana Field is one of the top places around Tampa to see a big sporting event, which is saying something considering the other great pro franchises that are in the area. Up in Queens at Citi Field, the Mets also have an unbelievable place to see a big game, though that's not something that you're going to figure out sitting at home watching on your disappointing little flatscreen. When the game is still up in the air and both Mets' and Rays' fans are at the edge of their seats, you'll be glad that you're not catching the highlights on your smart phone.
