Marlins Update – Week of July 4

For the Marlins, it's all about the rising young talent, as they have some of the most explosive young stars in the league and have been turning some heads all season long in the wide open N.L. East. One of the biggest reasons for optimism for the fan base, of course, has been the development of Giancarlo Stanton, who burst onto the scene last season by launching balls into the seats on the regular before taking his game to the next level this year. Stanton has been near or at the top of the National League all season long in home runs and RBIs, giving the Marlins a major boost in the heart of their order in the process.

But even though Stanton has been fantastic this season, the Marlins have had plenty of other bright spots as well. One of them, of course, has been Casey McGehee, who has been hitting at a.300 clip or better throughout the season and has been knocking in runs left and right as well despite not being much of a home run threat. Then there's Marcell Ozuna, another rising young star who knocked in a very solid 47 runs in his first 80 games of the season.

With an incredible young core, the Marlins' lineup has become one of the most feared in the National League, giving them a chance to win every time they take to the field. It also helps to have guys like Henderson Alvarez, who has held an ERA well below 2.50 throughout his first 16 starts of the season and gives the Marlins a major boost every fifth game. Tom Koehler has also shown some major signs as well, providing many reasons for optimism as the Marlins look to continue being a factor in one of the most competitive divisions in all of baseball. With plenty of big games ahead, the Marlins clearly have no intention of going quietly as they look to continue to develop their immensely talented core of star-level ballplayers.

2014 Miami Marlins Schedule

There is nothing quite like being there when the game is on the line and the Marlins are digging in, as this is a team that has plenty of talent once again this season and aspirations of getting right back into the playoff mix. The Marlins have a team of talented youngsters that is looking to make a statement that they're contenders in Major League Baseball this season. Built just a few years ago, Marlins Park is a new stadium that should be packed to the brim for the biggest matchups this baseball season. Be there in the stands to see the top Marlins sluggers hit towering home runs into the seats and you'll see loud and clear what all the buzz is about. But don't make the mistake of thinking that it's only about the home games, as road matchups featuring the Marlins are always loaded with Marlins fans who come out to the stands to make sure they don't miss out on the action.

The Marlins will have their work cut out for them when the Atlanta Braves hit the diamond at Marlins Park this season. The Braves are the reigning National League East champs, and the road to the 2014 division title goes through them. The Braves boast a well-rounded group of players that were able to put together 96 regular season wins in 2013. It won't be easy, but the Marlins will be looking to send the Braves back to Atlanta will a few losses every time the Braves come to Miami this season.

The Fish will have more big games on their hands every time the Washington Nationals come to town to try and take home some wins back to the nation's capital. The Nats are one of the most talented teams in the National League, and are not to be taken lightly. With a loyal crowd behind them, though, the Marlins can defeat any team in Major League Baseball, and that's why the fans need to come out in big numbers for all the biggest games of the 2014 season. The Marlins have major aspirations this season, and support from their loyal fans could go a long way in making this a season to remember in Miami as the Marlins look to make it happen and give their fans another memorable year of nail-biting excitement.
