Miami (Ohio) Redhawks Football Schedule

It might be hard to imagine how a team who finished the 2013 season without a single win could be as optimistic as the Miami Redhawks are for the start of the 2014 season. Though 2013 was a tough season in Oxford, the hire of new coach Chuck Martin is bringing a new hope to a football program that is ripe with history and tradition. Coach Martin was hired in the offseason after his predecessor Don Treadwell was fired after winning only 8 games in his tenure at Miami. Coach Martin comes to Oxford from Notre Dame where he has been the Offensive Coordinator since 2012 and an assistant since 2010. Miami hopes that Martin's history of winning football program's continues with his new team, and with that comes great optimism.

When the 2014 season begins, the Redhawks will begin their new era when they host the Marshall Thundering Herd of Conference USA at Yager Stadium on August 30. The Thundering Herd are coming off of a fantastic season where they finished the year with a 10-4 record, culminating in their victory in the Military Bowl over Maryland. Marshal has a high flying offense that finished 8th in the country by scoring over 42 points per game. They were a top 25 team in rushing and passing, but also had a stingy defense that helped make this one of the best seasons in their program's history. The Redhawks could make quite a statement with a victory in front of their home crowd and set the tone for their quest for redemption this season.

One MAC matchup that Redhawks fans won't want to miss is the last game of the season with their in state rival, the Ohio Bobcats, on November 25. The Bobcats finished the 2013 season with a 7-6 record behind the strong play of Devin Bass, the All-MAC First Team Kick Return Specialist and All-MAC Second Team Defensive Back, one of the conference's most exciting players. This is the last home game of the season and Redhawks fans last chance to see their team until next season.
