Kevin Mark Holness a.k.a. Mighty Mystic was born in the countryside of the St. Elizabeth parish in Jamaica. He demonstrated
an interest in his native country's music early on. It was commonplace to hear him singing songs like, What the Hell the Police
Can Do and Buffalo Soldier or hymns at Sunday mass. When his family relocated to Boston in 1989, Holness ventured onto the
local music scene, emerging as the Mighty Mystic. Mystic was a childhood nickname he got from his father, and coincidentally,
was also the area in Boston his family moved to. Remaining true to his island upbringing and reggae roots, Mighty Mystic scored
a hit with his debut single, Riding on the Clouds, in 2006. The song garnered praise and peaked at the top of the Reggae charts
globally. Better Times, Fire Town and Revolution were also singles that harnessed more attention. In fact, Better Times earned
WERS 88.9 FM New England Radio's "Rockers" radio hit pick.
Mighty Mystic's first major tour took place in the spring of 2006. He played gigs in New Jersey, New York City, Hartford,
Connecticut, Maryland, Orlando, Philadelphia, Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The tour revitalized his passion and devotion for
music and he immediately reported back to the studio. He mastered over 80 tunes with Cip & Thunder. The result was a dynamic
catalog and a more universal sound as well as adding a band to the Mighty Mystic identity. His renewal project generated the
single, Here I Am, featuring reggae pop icon Shaggy. The song achieved instant success and hit the airwaves of college and
urban mainstream. The good vibes continue to flow for Mighty Mystic today with other releases like Slipped Away, Hero and
Free.
