The band came together in Chicago in 1981. They struggled for a couple of years before releasing their debut album, With Sympathy , in 1983. Since that time, the band has released eight subsequent cuts, and all but one hit the charts. Ministry has never aggressively pursued high-level commercial success, though, and their style is more suited to a niche, which is often the case for innovators.
