Mississippi State Bulldogs Football Schedule

Mississippi State has had a football team since 1895 and generations of locals have been raised to cheer for the Bulldogs. College football is a big deal in Starkville, Mississippi and the crowds at Davis Wade Stadium are as loud and enthusiastic as anywhere else in the country. Coming off of a mediocre 2013 season which ended on a few high notes hope for a turnaround season is abundant in the area. Be sure to make your way to Davis Wade Stadium this season and be on the Bulldogs' bandwagon right from the start.

The home opener at Davis Wade Stadium is always one of the most exciting days of the football season in Starkville and this year the festivities take place on August 30th when the Bulldogs kick off the 2014 season against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. No true MSU fan will want to miss the kickoff of another exciting season of Bulldogs football so be sure to get your tickets early. Defending SEC Champions, and national runners up, the Auburn Tigers come to Davis Wade Stadium on October 11th and you can be sure neither team will want to lose this game. If the Bulldogs are looking to show that they have really turned things around a win against Auburn would be a great way to do so however, Auburn will not go down easily as any stumble in conference play could cost them a shot at returning to the championship game. Check out Mississippi State's entire home schedule right here on StubHub to see when you can make a game.

Mississippi State Football Team

Despite finishing with a disappointing 3-5 conference record and a middle of the road 7-6 overall record in 2013, the Bulldogs were able to salvage the season with late wins against Arkansas and in state rivals Ole Miss which allowed them to be bowl eligible. They were invited to the Liberty Bowl where they put a whipping on Rice University en route to a 44-7 victory. If the Bulldogs can build on the momentum of the way they finished last season and quarterback Dak Prescott continues to develop as he did during his sophomore year, coach Dan Mullen and company could have a special season in store. If highly regarded recruits like wide receiver Jesse Jackson, who was also offered scholarships from SEC foes Auburn and Alabama but chose MSU, and Jamoral Graham can make contributions early in the season that would just be icing on the cake. Things are never easy in the SEC as it is often the best football conference in the country, but this also means that the Bulldogs will be have the opportunity to score some big upsets and move up the national rankings as well as the SEC standings if they do so.

The Experience

There is nothing better than seeing a sporting event live and in person. Sports have been a part of cultures around the world for a very long time, and spectators have always enjoyed watching athletes compete at the highest of levels. When you're there in the stands at a sporting event like this one, you're treated to seeing some of the most talented athletes in the entire world going head to head with everything on the line. There's nothing that compares to the atmosphere at a game, where you're surrounded by fans that are all there to enjoy a great spectacle of sport.

Fans of college athletics bring an intensity to the table that is paralleled by very few pro sports fans. There's something about the top level of amateur competition that really gets the crowd going. College football fans carve out their entire Saturday to celebrate all that comes with the game. These diehards are up early and off to the stadium parking lot for tailgating before the game. Once inside the stadium, they can be heard screaming their heads off for their favorite team to come out on top. It's a real thrill to be in the stands when the star player takes it into the end zone for the win.

When you head out for a big football game you're sure to experience all that comes with a gridiron clash. The parking lot at the stadium will be filled with people gearing up for the big game, grilling up some grub and sipping on a few beverages as well. It's all one big lead up to the main event, which is the game itself. It's all one great experience that really takes an entire day to appreciate, and you can be a part of it all when you head to a game.

Mississippi State Bulldogs Football Conference

The Southeast Conference in Division I football is considered by many college football experts and fans to be the premier conference in the nation. The SEC features programs like the Texas A&M Aggies, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Kentucky Wildcats, Missouri Tigers, South Carolina Gamecocks, Tennessee Volunteers, Vanderbilt Commodores, Alabama Crimson Tide, Arkansas Razorbacks, Auburn Tigers, Louisiana State Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels and Mississippi State Bulldogs. Last season the Auburn Tigers finished with a 13-1 record (7-1 in SEC play) and went on to play in the BCS National Championship Game where they fell to the Florida State Seminoles in a thriller. The Bulldogs' main rival is the Ole Miss Rebels who they play every year in the Egg Bowl. The game used to be called the Battle of the Golden Egg and Ole Miss and Mississippi State have played each other since 1901. Another big rival is Alabama who they play in the Battle for Highway 82, also known as the 90 Mile Drive. Unfortunately for the MSU Bulldogs this rivalry has been considerably lopsided in Alabama's favor but Mississippi State is always looking to start changing that. Mississippi State and Alabama first played against one another all the way back in 1896 and this represents the SEC's longest running series.
