The first time soccer tickets were available for pro soccer games in the United States was all the way back in the early 1900s. A few professional leagues were established during the 20 th century, but none lasted very long. The MLS began in 1993, and has gone through economic struggles, but is growing in popularity, attendance, and international clout. With the inclusion of a Toronto team in 2007, the MLS will grow to 13 teams in the US and Canada. The MLS is divided into two conferences, East and West, and an elimination playoff determines the winner of the annual championship game, the MLS Cup.
