Morrissey tickets - Morrissey Tour

Morrissey Tour Schedule

There are few, if any, singers in the world with fans as dedicated and devoted as those of Morrissey. Whether with the Smiths or as a solo artist Morrissey has had a way of connecting with his fans through his music and lyrics unlike anyone else in modern music. With more than 30 years of recorded material to choose from Morrissey has quite the catalog to draw from when he performs, and fans are never let down by his setlists which are filled with hits. You may have spent years listening to Morrissey's recordings but until you see him live you really cannot say you have experienced his music to the fullest. Fortunately, Morrissey has a series of U.S. tour dates lined up across the country.

Morrissey's tour kicks off on May 7th at City National Civic in San Jose, California. Three days later he plays at the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles where he has perhaps his most dedicated fan base in the world. The rest of May sees the Moz play shows in El Paso, Albuquerque, Salt Lake City, Denver, Lincoln, Lawrence, Dallas, Austin, Beaumont, Memphis, Nashville, and Saint Petersburg. He closes out May with a show on the 31st at Knight Concert Hall at Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami. In June Morrissey will play shows in Atlanta, Atlantic City, Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Flint, Lewiston, Wilmington, and Hershey before finishing up the tour at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on the 21st. In recent years Morrissey has been hinting at retirement, so if you have been waiting to see him live now would be the time to catch him on tour.

About the Artist

Steven Patrick Morrissey began playing in bands in 1978 and was in a few locals bands but it was not until 1982 when he met a guitarist named Johnny Marr that he really found a kindred spirit. The two were really on the same page and began a songwriting partnership that would result in the creation of one of the most influential and popular bands of the Eighties. In 1983 they were signed to Rough Trade Records and released their first single, Hand in Glove. Influential DJ John Peel took notice of the band and they released two more singles that year, This Charming Man and What Difference Does It Make. At the start of 1984 they released their self-titled debut album which reached number 2 on the British charts. The Smiths would release 3 more albums (Meat Is Murder, The Queen Is Dead, and Strangeways, Here We Come) along with a live album and a few compilations, before breaking up inn 1987. A mere 8 months after the end of the Smiths, Morrissey released his debut solo album Viva Hate. He has released eight more solo studio albums since: Kill Uncle, Your Arsenal, Vauxhall and I, Southpaw Grammar, Maladjusted, You Are the Quarry, Ringleader of the Tormentors, and Years of Refusal. He took some time off of recording from 1998 through 2003 before embarking on a series of productive years once again. He continues to tour and is one of the most popular and beloved artists on the road, regularly selling out show wherever he plays.

Breakthrough

Morrissey experienced almost immediate success in England when the Smiths released their first three singles. Hand In Glove, the band's very first single, was their only single not to chart in the U.K. Their second single This Charming Man hit the charts, as did their following single What Difference Does It Make. By the time they released their self-titled debut album they had developed a strong enough following that it hit number 2 on the UK alums chart.

The Experience

You have been waiting for what seems like forever for this night to come and finally as the lights lower you begin to see the band taking the stage. The crowd erupts in applause as Morrissey grabs approaches the mic. A hush falls over the crowd as Morrissey thanks them and launches into a fan favorite like Interesting Drug, Suedehead, The Last of the Famous International Playboys, Everyday Is Like Sunday, or Haridresser on Fire. The crowd once again erupts and sings and dances along to hits throughout the night. Always one to surprise the crowd, perhaps Morrissey sprinkles in some covers or some much loved Smiths songs throughout the set. This is your chance to see one of the hottest and most talked about performers of the past thirty plus years and the show definitely exceeds expectations. Morrissey has an ability to connect with the audience and entrance them both with his unique voice and poetic lyricism. Do not miss the chance to see Morrissey when he hits your town.

Trivia

Morrissey released a book of his memoirs in 2013, but this was not his first foray into writing. He had written three earlier books before forming the Smiths: The New York Dolls, James Dean Is Not Dead, and Exit Smiling.
