Mountain West Basketball Team Info

A fairly new conference as far as D-I sports conferences go, the Mountain West began selling NCAA basketball tickets before the 1999 season of play and has quickly developed into a prominent conference. Teams in this conference are located around, or west of, the Rocky Mountains. BYU and Utah shared the first regular season title in 2000, and there have been many great moments in conference play since then. These days, there are some major powerhouses that vie for the title every single season, and this is a conference that is gaining a reputation for having more than a few superstars competing on a regular basis.

College Basketball Experience

There are plenty of major college sports out there these days, but few can even hold a candle to the experiment of big-time NCAA basketball. Come out to the stands and you'll see what all the buzz is about, as you'll be treated to an unbelievable sporting event filled with thousands of intense fans that know a thing or two about showing their support. Some things don't transfer through that fancy TV, no matter how close you sit or how impressive your sound system is, and you'll see that loud and clear as the top teams in the Mountain West hope to dominate the hardwood in another exciting season of hoops. Once you're there in the middle of a nail-biter, you'll definitely understand what this conference is all about.

Mountain West Basketball History

The Mountain West Conference has been sending multiple teams to the NCAA Tournament regularly, and expectations remain high from one year to the next. Teams like San Diego State, Wyoming, Utah State, and New Mexico have all proven in the 2000s that they are capable of greatness, and other programs are also looking to build themselves into juggernauts that can routinely challenge for entrance into the Big Dance. New Mexico and San Diego have the most tournament wins with four apiece, but other schools like UNLV and Utah have also one at least two different titles in their history. Put it all together and this is a conference that is never lacking in explosive talent that can do a little bit of everything.

Mountain West Basketball Trivia
