you're just not going to find anywhere else.
MxPx is a popular punk rock band that has
gained a reputation for connecting with a live audience from one show to the next, making them always a band that you'll want
to keep your eye on. They've released nine different albums that have garnered them much success and an intense following
of die-hard fans, making them an indelible part of the heavy metal scene in the process as they've gone from one well-received
tour to the next over the years. This threesome featuring Mike Herrera, Tom Wisniewski and Yuri Ruley has been making the
round since they first got rolling in 1992, the year the band credits their formation. Formed in Bremerton in Washington,
MxPx actually started with the name Magnified Plaid, which stuck for a little while as this band was first getting rolling.
In a quirk of fate, Yuri Ruley's handwriting ended up making the MP abbreviation for their band look like MxPx, and from there
the name stuck as fans began getting familiar with their creative style of punk rock. After they found their true name, MxPx
soon began hitting up venues all over and eventually gained the attention of Tooth & Nail Records, helping bring them
to the next level with a bevy of subsequent studio albums.
MxPx Hit Albums
MxPx got together as a group
of 15-year-olds in 1992 in Bremerton, Washington, citing bands such as The Clash, The Cure, Black Flag and Sonic Youth as
acts they admire. Thought they're often considered Christian rock, MxPx's sound carries the traditions of punk rock, which
makes for an intriguing hybrid that has helped them reach a wider and wider fan base from one album to the next. Their 2000
album, "The Ever Passing Moment," brought them to the top of the Christian charts for the first time, ranking them as high
as 56 on the Billboard Top 200 as well. MxPx would also top the Christian charts with both "Panic" in 2005 and "Secret Weapon"
in 2007, though it was their 2003 release "Before Everything & After" that shot all the way to number 51 on the Billboard
Top 200. Put it all together and, at this point, MxPx has an amazing array of hit tracks that create the perfect foundation
for a concert, giving you all kinds of incentive to head out and see the band the way they were meant to be seen.
Did you know that MxPx put together an MxPx All-Stars Tour that made waves in Japan and Southeast Asia? Not
content with just bringing their music to the States, Mike Herrera teamed up with a variety of other musicians, including
Chris Wilson of Good Charlotte fame, for an exciting tour that helped to bring MxPx's sound around the world.
There has never been a better time to head out to a great concert loaded with moments that you'll
be talking about well after it's over. Sure, there are plenty of ways to listen to music these days, but it's a completely
different experience to actually be there so you can feel the pulse of the crowd and watch your favorite musicians take the
stage for an unforgettable concert experience – and that definitely holds true when it's a talented punk rock band like
MxPx. When you're in the middle of an epic show that you know you'll be talking about a long time after it's all over, you'll
definitely be glad that you're not still sitting at home.
