Naughty by Nature, consisting of Treach, Vin Rock and DJ Kay Gee, first formed in 1989 and released the indie The Independent Leaders, seeing the minor hit “Scuffin’ Those Knees.” They hit the mainstream with “O.P.P.” a single which sampled “ABC” by the Jackson 5. The group continued to release albums into the late ‘90s, with 19 Naughty III following their eponymous, then Poverty’s Paradise, Nineteen Naughty Nine: Nature’s Fury and Ilcons.
Beginning their career in the late ‘80s, Naughty by Nature have been making headlines for years, first with their 1991 self-titled sophomore effort and most recently their 2002 effort Ilcons.
