NCAA Tournament Spokane Schedule
March is growing near and that can only mean one thing in the world of sports,
the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament is right around the corner. Easily one of the most exciting times of the year for sports
junkies, the NCAA Tournament provides some of the biggest thrills of the year as long shot small schools take on perennial
powerhouses, often pushing them to the brink of elimination and occasionally coming away with an unforgettable upset. Teams
have been battling all year in hopes of making it this far and they are not ready to give up on their dreams of a National
Championship just yet. This year Spokane, Washington has been chosen as a host city for the first two rounds of the tournament.
Thursday March 20th and Saturday March 22nd the first two rounds of the tournament will be played at Spokane Arena in Spokane,
Washington. Spokane Arena is one of the finest venues in the area, and while it is mainly known as the home of arena football
it is also an excellent spot to catch a college basketball game. Four big time games on Thursday followed by two on Saturday
provide for an unforgettable college hoops experience. To date there has never been a number 16 seed that has defeated a number
one seed, although there have been a handful of number 2 seeds upset by 15 seeds, and in recent years a few top seeds have
been close to stumbling in the first round. The big upset is bound to happen sooner or later and this could well be the year.
Do not miss out on the chance to be part of college basketball history in Spokane, secure your tickets now.
For many the college basketball season is merely a prelude to the NCAA Tournament in March, it is a time
to build an impressive resume to make it to the Big Dance and to correct any flaws that could prove fatal come March. Once
the field is set and teams have been selected there is not time to breathe and relax as the real work is about to begin. The
NCAA Tournament is the one-and-done contest that eventually determines the Division I college basketball champion. Even teams
that are at the top of the national polls are well aware that anyone could be susceptible to an upset and it will take a gargantuan
effort to make their dreams of the Final Four come true. Every team has a shot to advance on any single day, someone could
get hot from the three point line for an underdog and shoot his team to victory, a dominant interior presence could prove
to be too much to handle for a team that was once thought invincible. This is what it is all about and this is why the student
athletes chose to play college basketball at the highest level. No team will just roll over and be happy to have been selected
and everyone believes they have a shot to advance to the next round.
There is simply no
other sport event on the planet like the NCAA Tournament. Dedicated fans and elite student athletes competing for their school
provide for an atmosphere that is hard to find in any other sport. This will all be immediately evident upon entering Spokane
Arena for the first two rounds of the Tournament. As the teams get set for the opening tip off, fans stand up and loudly cheer
for their favorite team. The squeak of the sneakers on the court, the coach barking out orders from the sidelines, the cheerleaders
chanting and pep bands playing school fight songs, and the wild fans wearing school colors doing their best to root their
team on to victory, all of this envelops even the most apathetic person in the crowd and it is impossible not to get caught
up in the moment.
Part of the beauty of NCAA basketball is the parity. Every team in the
Tournament has the capability of competing with every other team. The small schools no one paid attention to throughout the
year may have the senior leadership and team chemistry which has developed over years of playing with one another that the
highly ranked school full of highly recruited freshmen, for all of their athleticism and NBA potential, lack. The one-and-done
nature of the NCAA Tournament gives every school that makes the field a chance and this is precisely what makes NCAA basketball
such a thrill.
So far UCLA leads the pack in terms of total NCAA Championships with 11 titles,
the University of Kentucky is second with 8, while Indiana and the University of North Carolina are tied for third with five,
followed by Duke University which has claimed four championships.
