In 1935, Owens set the single-year record by winning four individual categories that year, then followed it up in 1936 by winning four categories once again. Since, no athlete has won four categories in a single year, even though Owens actually did it in back-to-back years. Following his brilliance at the 1936 NCAA Track and Field Championships, Owens would famously go on to dominate the 1936 Olympics held in Berlin.
