The Huskers have had some great
ones throughout their history, one of whom was Eric Piatkowski, who played so well in his tenure with the Huskers that the
program retired his number 52 in 2006. After his days as a Husker, Piatkowski went on to play in the NBA, as did former Huskers
like Stu Lantz and Grant Simmons. Overall, this is a program that was founded all the way back 1897 and has developed into

always developing stars who might go on to play at the next level. With the Cornhuskers looking to elevate their game and
again challenge for a spot in the Big Dance, it simply doesn't get any better than this.
Did you know what was the first year that the Cornhuskers made it to the NCAA Tournament?
The answer is
1986. After that season, the Cornhuskers had a brief down stretch but once again were back in the Big Dance every year from
1991 through 1994, marking the best stretch in the history of the program as far as making it to the NCAA Tournament. The
Cornhuskers would add a Tournament appearance in 1998 and another during their great run at the end of their 2013-2014 season.
