About Neil Sedaka

Neil Sedaka initially rose to fame after releasing his first top 10 hit, "Oh! Carol," which reached the number 9 position on the Hot 100 chart in the late 1950s. During the next decade, Neil Sedaka cranked out a number of tops hits, including songs like "You Mean Everything to Me," "Run, Samson, Run," "Stairway to Heaven," "Calendar Girl," "Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen," and "Little Devil." One of his most famous songs, "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do," was released in 1962, and it quickly shot to the number 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In addition to its success stateside, the single was a hit worldwide, and it remains one of his most popular songs to date. Other hits in the 1960s included "Next Door to an Angel," "Sweet Little You," and "King of Clowns." With his infectious pop tunes enjoying airplay everywhere, Neil Sedaka was also a frequent performer on shows like American Bandstand, which further expanded his music to even more fans.

In the 1970s, Neil Sedaka's career went through a resurgence when he released the album titled "The Hungry Years" in 1975. His single "Bad Blood," which was a duet with the famed Elton John, quickly soared to the number 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and was eventually certified gold. He later released a blues-infused remake of his song "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do," which topped the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart.
