About Nero

Composed of Daniel Stephens, Joe Ray, and Alana Watson, Nero is a British electronic music band that has swept the EDM scene. Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray both spent their formative years together in the Northwood, London area. The pair both began playing instruments at a young age, with Joe Ray playing classical guitar and Daniel Stephens playing cello. At around age 17, they set up a studio in Daniel Stephens' bedroom and began making electronic music together on their computers, drawing inspiration from the likes of M-Beat and General Levy. Beginning in 2004, Nero released their debut "Space 2001" which was part of the "Straight Outta Leicester" LP from Reformed Recordings. Nero's first single through MTA Records was the track "Innocence," released in the UK in April of 2010. "Innocence" proved to be a successful debut single, peaking at favorable spots on various dance and indie charts. In fact, the band was later nominated for BBC's Sound of 2011 poll.

Following their debut single, Nero released their second single "Me & You," which debuted at number fifteen on the UK Singles Chart, and it peaked at the number one spot on the independent chart. By the time their third single "Guilt" was released, the album was selected as the "Hottest Record in the World" by UK radio personality Zane Lowe. Following the release of "Guilt," Nero's debut album "Welcome Reality" was released in August of 2011, featuring the previously released singles, in addition to "Promises," "Crush on You," "Reaching Out," and "Must Be The Feeling." After their debut album hit the shelves, Nero was able to embark on a tour in the United Kingdom and the United States. They also began another tour in 2012, visiting cities across Australia, and the United Kingdom and the U.S., in addition to making appearances at the Electric Daisy Carnival, Pukkelpop, and V Festival.

In October of 2012, Nero re-released their debut album as "Welcome Reality +" which featured extra songs, including "Won't You (Be There)," "Etude," and the Skrillex/Nero remix of "Promises." This wasn't the only time Nero collaborated with Skrillex. Their remix of Monsta's "Holdin' On" was premiered on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show, and was met with praise by fans.

Nero Breakthrough Album

After Nero released their debut album, they were able to reach a huge audience all over the world. Their album "Welcome Reality" peaked at number one on the UK Albums Chart, and allowed them to hit the road on their tour of the United Kingdom and the United States. Nero have since gone on to collaborate with Skrillex and other artists, and have also won a host of awards. Their collaboration with Skrillex on "Promises" earned them a Grammy Award in 2013 for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, and the band also won the Dubstep Music Awards North America award for Best International Dubstep Act in 2012. "Welcome Reality" also went on to win the Dubstep Music Awards for Best Album in 2011, and the Drum & Bass Awards for Best Dubstep Producers and Best Dubstep DJs.

Nero Trivia
