New Orleans Pelicans Road Games

New Orleans Pelicans Road Schedule in 2013-14

The New Orleans Pelicans are ready to take to fly high on the road this season as they tour the country to take on some of the best clubs that the National Basketball Association has to offer. This Pelicans team is stocked with talent, and it's only a matter of time until that talent starts to result in big wins. Victories on the road are never easy to come by, and that won't be any different playing in the Western Conference this season, but the Pelicans are sure to give it everything they've got when they hit the floor in 2013-14. This team has a ton of tough match-ups away from home this season, and they'll often play better basketball as a team if they can hear that they've got some fan support in other arenas.

The Pelicans are going to have to step up their game when they head to San Antonio this season to take on the Spurs. San Antonio often finishes atop the Southwest Division standings, and any victory against them is a huge one for a divisional rival. The Spurs have two of the best players in the NBA in Tim Duncan and Tony Parker, and if the Pelicans could slow that duo down then they could get a huge victory away from home.

Another division rival that the Pelicans will travel to see frequently this season is the Houston Rockets. Armed with a dynamic duo in James Harden and Dwight Howard, the Pelicans will have to try to slow both and inside and an outside attack. Anthony Davis could figure into this match-up in a big way for New Orleans, as he has the defensive capabilities to stop a big man like Howard. This and other great match-ups await those that will attend New Orleans Pelicans road games this season.

New Orleans Pelicans Team Info

The New Orleans Pelicans are a professional basketball team that plays in the Southwest Division of the National Basketball Association. The Pelicans are set to head out on the road this season, and they've got some serious firepower on this roster. The Pelicans swung a huge trade on draft day in the off-season, landing All-Star guard Jrue Holiday in a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers. Holiday is a great young piece to add to the mix for an emerging Pelicans team that is looking to shoot up the conference ranks as soon as possible. The team also went out and signed former Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans in free agency, giving the team a potent scorer that can get to the basket at will. The team is also expecting a big leap from the top pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, big man Anthony Davis. Davis is a defensive force with an emerging offensive game, and the Pelicans think that they have a star player on their hands down the road. Also, don't forget about Eric Gordon, who when healthy is a lethal scoring option and a good long-range shooter. With all of this talent on board, the Pelicans are looking to take flight this season and wind up near the top of the division standings. If they can win some big games on the road, that could become a reality.

Fan Experience

Fans of the National Basketball Association love to hit the stands for all the biggest games featuring their favorite teams. Most Pelicans fans have seen games live and in person, but only the die-hards get out to see New Orleans when they hit the road. The Pelicans have some huge games against rival teams away from the friendly confines of their home arena this season, and you can be there to enjoy all of the action as the Pels try to silence the home crown. Make your presence felt by cheering as loudly as possible in an opposing team's arena.

New Orleans Pelicans Trivia

Where did New Orleans Pelicans guard Eric Gordon play college basketball?

The answer is the University of Indiana, where Gordon starred and got himself drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in the lottery of the NBA Draft. Gordon quickly established himself as a potent scorer in Los Angeles before being traded to New Orleans in the deal that sent Chris Paul to the Clippers.

New Orleans Pelicans History

The Pelicans organization dates back to 1988 when the franchise was created in Charlotte, NC as the Hornets. The franchise moved to New Orleans in the wake of the 2002 season, and made the playoffs each of the first two seasons they were there thanks to point guard Chris Paul's stellar play. The team changed its name to the Pelicans in 2013 to honor the state bird of Louisiana. New Orleans' first NBA title still eludes the Pelicans franchise, but the team is hoping to change as soon as possible and give their fan the championship they crave.
