Chris Buehrle, the bands leader, began writing music and creating his own brand of blues, rock and folk music when he was just 10-years-old. After several years of honing his skills and perfecting his signature sound, he released his first solo album, The Other Me, in 2007. He also released a self-titled solo album in 2011, but he realized early on that he would need a band to help him round out his sound and appeal to a larger audience. He met bassist Michael Lee when he recruited him for another band. The two actually met after Lee answered a craigslist add about a new coffee table. Buehrle surprised the musician by asking him to audition for him. Although he had never played bass before, Lee impressed Buehrle with his falsetto vocals and surprisingly high vertical jump. With addition of drummer/vocalist Luke Quanstrom (Beckon Q/March of Mron), and pianist/vocalist Dylan Oberling (March of Morn), The New Policies was born. Their original sound is a new kind of roots rock that combines a blend of acoustic textures, tasteful keys, bluesy riffs and layered vocals.
