New York Jets Schedule

As the 2014 NFL season gets underway the New York Jets appear to be in position to find themselves not only in the playoffs at the end of the season but also in the hunt for an AFC East division championship. The Jets enter the season even hungrier than usual after winding up just short of the playoffs last season when the San Diego Chargers came out victorious on when of the last games to go final, forcing New York to stay home. You can be certain that they are determined not to suffer the same fate this season. It is never easy in the always competitive AFC East as the Jets will once again have to go up against the Miami Dolphins, the New England Patriots, and the Buffalo Bills twice this year, but the Jets made some big offseason moves and appear to have what it takes to regain the AFC East crown in 2014. This year's draft was a huge success for the Jets, snagging safety Calvin Pryor out of Louisville in the first round, as well as corner Dex McDougle, tight end Jace Amaro, wide receiver Jalen Saunders, and others who will add talent and depth to what was already one of the most enviable rosters in the league. Several of the top teams in the NFL will be coming to MetLife Stadium this year and the Jets will be looking for all of the home field support they can get as they attempt to supplant New England as the AFC East champs. The Jets home opener will be against the Oakland Raiders on September 7th. Winning their first home game is a must for teams looking to make it into the playoffs and a victory over a vastly improved Raiders team is a must for the Jets. October 12th brings Peyton Manning and the defending AFC champion Denver Broncos to East Rutherford in a game that will definitely be one of the most exciting of the year and could show all of the other teams in the NFL that the Jets are serious Super Bowl contenders this season. October 26th the Buffalo Bills come to town for the Jets' first home division game. Getting home division wins is imperative for teams looking to make the playoffs and this is certainly a must-win game for New York. The last two home games of the season are two even bigger AFC East match ups, with the first being on December 1st against the Miami Dolphins. Last season the Jets and Dolphins finished with identical records and both squads fell just short of the playoffs and will be hungry for this victory. The last home game of the regular season will be against the much reviled New England Patriots on December 21st. This is a game that could very well decide not only who wins the AFC East but who gets into the playoffs and no Jets fan will want to miss it. The Jets also have big home games against the Detroit Lions, the Chicago Bears, and the Pittsburgh Steelers this season, so pick out the games you want to attend and get your tickets here on StubHub to show the Jets some support at MetLife Stadium in 2014.

The Team

The New York Jets are poised to make a big charge up the AFC East standings in 2014, and head coach Rex Ryan seems to have exactly the right pieces to do precisely that. In the offseason the Jets picked up Michael Vick who will start the season as Geno Smith's back-up but could end up splitting time with him in certain situations. The Jets nabbed safety Calvin Pryor from Louisville in the first round of the draft, along with corner Dex McDougle, tight end Jace Amaro, and wide receiver Jalen Saunders, who all should be able to contribute early. Be there right all season long as the Jets look to make a return trip to the playoffs.

The Experience

If you are expecting to see an amazing sporting event, look no further as there is nothing that matches the thrill of being there for an exciting NFL match up loaded with heart-pounding intensity. Whether it is a spectacular catch, a highlight-ready run, or an eye-popping throw, the NFL has you covered if you are looking for top-tier football action that you'll be talking about well after it's over. There has never been a better time to head out to the stands so you can actually feel the intensity of the crowd in a way that you never can from your living room. Tickets to see the Jets play at their home venue of MetLife Stadium are always hot sellers for a reason, as the Jets are usually one of the best teams in the AFC and often host some of the toughest opponents that the conference has to offer. Home games featuring the Jets are always great, though there is something great about being on the road as well, as there is nothing quite like watching your favorite team as they hope to silence the home crowd to the joy of the true fans that made the trip. Don't miss out on any of the New York Jets action this season.

New York Jets AFC East

The New York Jets play in the AFC East, which has traditionally been among the toughest divisions in the entire NFL. The New England Patriots enter the season as the defending champions and are annually a popular preseason pick to make it to the Super Bowl behind quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick. The Miami Dolphins barely missed out on a wildcard playoff berth in 2013 and have added running back Knowshon Moreno to their roster as well as bringing in some key draft picks that should make them even more dangerous this season. The New York Jet also fell just short of the playoffs last season and have added several key pieces including quarterback Michael Vick who will back up Geno Smith and possibly be used in special situations. The Buffalo Bills have C.J. Spiller in their backfield, a running back who can break a big play at any moment and have also added superstar Mario Williams to their defense in hopes of moving up the AFC East standings.

The history of the Jets franchise dates all the way back to 1959 when they were a founding member of the AFL and were known as the New York Titans.
