New York Red Bulls Schedule in 2014
The New York Red Bulls are ready to take flight this season as they take on
some of the top teams in Major League Soccer. The Red Bulls have a roster brimming with talent, and their fans are hoping
that such a talent level can take them to the top of the standings. The Red Bulls play in the Eastern Conference of MLS, and
each season the conference is riddled with teams good enough to vie for a playoff spot. In 2013 the Red Bulls showed up in
a big way, notching the best record in the conference. They were unable to go the distance in the postseason, though, and
are back in 2014 trying to perform better. The Red Bulls have gotten off to a solid start in 2014, but they're going to have
to be consistent throughout the season in order to return to the playoffs.
The Red Bulls have gotten a few big wins
in 2014 already, such as their victory against the Houston Dynamo on April 23rd. Houston was the team that knocked off New
York in the playoffs last postseason. Houston earned the fourth seed in the East playoffs last year but played their best
at the right time, sending the Red Bulls home with a 2-1 victory in the second game of their Conference Semifinals series.
New York is looking forward to a multitude of great matchups as the season wears on, such as their August 2nd contest against
a New England Revolution team that has gotten off to a hot start. This team has plenty of fantastic games coming down the
pipe; just check out the schedule and get out to Red Bull Arena.
New York Red Bulls History
League Soccer came to life in 1996 boasting ten inaugural teams, including the New York/New Jersey MetroStars, which have
eventually come to be known as the New York Red Bulls. The Red Bulls began their tenure in the MLS playing home games at the
Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, but in 2009 the soccer specific Red Bull Arena opened in Harrison, New Jersey,
prompting the Red Bulls to make the move to the 25,000 capacity arena. The Red Bulls have yet to take home a MLS Cup championship
title, but the team reached the MLS Cup final in 2008, and even won the Supporters' Shield in 2013. The team has also taken
part in international tournaments, including the Copa Merconorte, La Manga Cup, CONCACAF Champions League, Barclays New York
Challenge and Emirates Cup. Although they were the last of the original ten MLS teams to win a significant MLS trophy, the
Red Bulls' win of the Supporters' Shield in 2013 put them on the right track to success.
