Newport Jazz Festival
The Newport Jazz Festival music tickets are some of the most in-demand
tickets in town, thanks to the show's impressive lineup of classic jazz performers. This prestigious festival was founded
in 1954 by socialite Elaine Lorillard and her husband Louis Lorillard, who financed the festival for many years and hired
jazz impresario George Wein to help organize the event. In the early years, the festivals were also featured on Voice Of America
radio and many performances were recorded and released via major record labels.

In 1954 the first Newport Jazz Festival was
held at Newport Casino in Newport, Rhode Island and featured academic panel discussions in addition to live musical performances
on an outdoors lawn. A number of notable jazz musicians appeared at the event, including Billie Holiday. The success of the
festival forced its organizers to find a larger venue for the following year, and the festival went forward at Freebody Park,
where it remained for nearly a decade, before taking up it's current location at Fort
Adams State Park . This gorgeous venue features ocean views and three stages as well as a wide variety of beer, wine and
