Nightmares on Wax Schedule
Nightmares on Wax made an indelible imprint on the music scene during the 90s. First,
he helped pen "Dexterous" and "Aftermath," defining classics for the start of the rave period. Then, in 1995, he came out
with theSmokers Delight, regarded as one of the primary facilitators of the mellow, down tempo kind of music that's prevalent
"Today's music is inspired by what's gone on before and that is what fascinates me. Following on in that tradition
I am inspired by the old and want to evolve it into something new. I see it as a never-ending cycle and that is where I want
to be," said George Evelyn, the man behind Nightmares on Wax.

Nightmares on Wax Background
George Evelyn first got a taste of Curtis Mayfield and Quincy Jones
through the influences of his sister and father. His music career got its boost from his initial interest in hip-hop, which
he nurtured by becoming a part of a breakdancing group. He and Kevin Harper crossed paths and developed music similar to Unique
3, The Forgemasters and LFO. They issued their debut album, A Word Of Science: The First And Final Chapter, in 1991. This
served as the starting point of Nightmares on Wax. These days, Harper works as a solo DJ and Evelyn works with Robin Taylor-Firth.
Following the debut album release, Nightmares on Wax took a hiatus. Evelyn managed The Headz Club in Leeds, and he went back
to crafting music, issuing Smokers Delight in 1995.
Carboot Soul followed in 1999. The album included Chris Dawkins
(guitar); Sara Winton (vocalist); Hamlet Luton (bass); and Robin Taylor-Firth (keyboards). The Pure Strings Orchestra also
made a contribution to that album. What started out as a DJ group evolved into something more resembling a band. Evelyn said,
"Doing the live side proves there is more to the music. People have something more tangible to relate the music to and it
gives us the chance to connect with the audience. Also I've always had this idea of creating a big band - which is what we
call our sound. The main priority for NoW is to prove that we can perform music. But we're not ignoring the fact that we come
from a studio, technical background. We just want to mix the old with the new. That's why, at the moment, I don't have a live
drummer. The sound of the beats is what makes Nightmares."
Following Carboot Soul, Evelyn focused his efforts on building
a career as a credible musical consultant and producer. In 2000, he collaborated with De La Soul and also produced the DJ
Kicks mixtape. In 2002, Mind Elevation arrived and he forged ahead on growing his label. In 2006, Nightmares on Wax issued
In a Space Outta Sound, which was followed by thought so...,Coming Homeand Feelin' Good.
