Notre Dame Stadium History
Built in 1930 during the Knute Rockne era, Notre Dame Stadium was designed by the Osborn
Engineering Company. This company was responsible for designs of many famous stadiums including Comiskey Park in Chicago,
the Yankee Stadium and the Polo Grounds in New York City, as well as facilities in Michigan, Indiana, Purdue and Minnesota.
However, it was the triumph of Knute's football teams that built the foundation and the lore of the venue. Over the years,
the Irish have built themselves into one of the most storied football programs in college football history, and it still doesn't
get any better than seeing a game in person alongside tens of thousands of your fellow fans. This stadium has seen some incredible
players hit the field since it was built. Over the years, the Irish have had so many great players that it's impossible to
go through them all without attempting to write the next great American novel, but a few of the best include Joe Montana,
Tim Brown and Joe Theismann.
