Springing from the solo project Songbird, Of Monsters and Men gained international acclaim when some of their performance at the Icelandic Airwaves festival was broadcast live on a Seattle-based radio station. Their popularity in the United States only grew after their debut album, My Head is an Animal, was released in 2011. The album gained so much attention that they were quickly signed to Universal records for distribution on an international scale. After performing at South by Southwest in 2012, Of Monsters and Men quickly solidified themselves as an integral part of the indie pop music scene.
