Oklahoma State Cowboys Schedule in 2013-14

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are ready to hit the court this season to tangle with some of the best teams in college basketball. This team is loaded with top players and could be a contender for the conference title in 2013-14. The Oklahoma State Cowboys are a Division I basketball program that play in the Big 12 Conference. The Big 12 is known for being one of the toughest conferences in college hoops each and every season. The Cowboys are coming off a very good 2012-13 season in which they posted a record of 24-9 while winning 13 of their 18 contests in Big 12 play. The Cowboys are hoping to at least repeat this caliber of performance this season, but they definitely have enough talent to improve in 2013-14. With point guard Marcus Smart running the show for the Cowboys, this team has a National Player of the Year candidate. Smart could have been a top pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, but he decided to return to school for his sophomore season, something that one doesn't see very much these days. The Cowboys have some fantastic matchups coming their way this season, and fans will pack the house to see the action unfold right before their eyes.

A big game on the Cowboys' schedule this season comes on March 1st when they host the Kansas Jayhawks. The Jayhawks are a real threat in the Big 12 this season, thanks largely in part to two freshman that are setting the NCAA world in fire. Andrew Wiggins could be the number one pick in the NBA Draft in 2014, and he's establishing himself as the kind of player that can make an impact on both ends of the court. Wiggins is showing a more assertive offensive game as of late, something that could spell disaster for opponents. The Jayhawks also have center Joel Embid, another player in the running for the top pick in the draft. With this one-two punch, the Jayhawks are going to be tough to take down. The Cowboys certainly have the firepower and willpower to make it happen, but it's going to take a raucous crown behind them to help seal the victory. This should be one of the most exciting games of the 2013-14 season, and you can be there to see it all happen in person.

The Cowboys will finish out their home schedule on March 3rd when they host the Kansas State Wildcats in what should be a fantastic matchup. The final game of the season is always a big deal for the home fans, as they won't get the chance to see their favorite team hit the floor at home until the following season, and a conference matchup against Kansas State could mean a lot in the Big 12 standings. This is sure to be a game that goes down to the wire, and the Cowboys will lean heavily on Smart to lead them to a big victory to give the Cowboys a lot of momentum heading into the conference tournament.

Oklahoma State Cowboys History

The Cowboys basketball team of Oklahoma State first took the court in Gallagher-Iba Arena in 1938, and it wasn't long after they were winning national championships. While another national championship has eluded the team in the years since, Oklahoma State has remained at the forefront of the college basketball scene, perennially competing at the highest level and demonstrating great talent and depth. The Cowboys have made the NCAA Tournament more than 20 times, and have been to six Final Fours. This is a proud program that feels honored by its rich history.
