The Orlando Magic in 2013-14

The Orlando Magic may be amidst a rebuilding project, but that doesn't mean this team is going to lay down for anyone. The Magic have a lot of talent on their roster, but many of their players are young and still finding their way in the National Basketball Association. The Magic are one of the up and coming teams in the Eastern Conference, but they're not ready to contend for a title yet. This organization clearly has a plan that they're going to stick to, and that plan includes patience. The team has a few veterans that are helping to lead this group, one being shooting guard Arron Afflalo. Afflalo has gotten better each and every season that he has been in the NBA, and this year he has served as solid go-to option for Orlando. However, Afflalo likely is not a big part of the future of the franchise, as he plays the same position as 2013 first rounder Victor Oladipo, and the future lies with this Indiana alum. Oladipo has shown a lot of promise in his rookie season and could be a legitimate star in the making. The rookie has gone through some common first-year struggles but also shown flashes of brilliance while playing stellar defense. The Magic also have other promising young players in Tobias Harris, Mo Harkless and Nikola Vucevic, among others. While none of these players has the upside of Oladipo, they could turn into real weapons for this team down the road. The Magic are going to struggle to reach the postseason in 2013-14, but they're sure to play hard for the entire 82 games.

The Experience of a Orlando Magic Playoff Game

The Orlando Magic have an exciting team, and to really appreciate that one has to attend a home game in person. Being there in the stands is a totally different experience than watching the game on TV, and that applies even more so when playoff time comes around. The postseason brings out the best in these players, and they are already the best in the entire world. NBA action in rife with incredible plays on the hardwood, and there are some incredible highlights that come out of every postseason contest. The Magic are hoping to make it to the postseason this time around, and if they can you owe it to yourself to be there to see all the Magic happen.

Orlando Magic Trivia

Who did the Orlando Magic select with the second overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft?

While many experts predicted that the Magic were targeting Oklahoma State point guard Marcus Smart, Smart would decide to return for a sophomore season with the Cowboys. That pointed the Magic in the direction of Victor Oladipo, the super-talented shooting guard out of Indiana. Oladipo was not on draft radars much when he arrived at Indiana, but his 2012-13 season for the Hoosiers showed him as a potential star in the pros. The Magic selected Oladipo knowing he was already a top defensive player with plenty of room to grow on the offensive end, and a very high ceiling.

Orlando Magic Postseason History

The Orlando Magic have had some truly memorable moments throughout their history, and many of those moments have come in the postseason. The playoffs always bring out the best in the top players, and the Magic have had some great big men take the floor in the postseason for Orlando. One such player was Shaquille O'Neal, one of the best big men to every take the court in the NBA. O'Neal led the Magic to the NBA Finals in 1995, where they ended up falling to the Houston Rockets. Houston center Hakeem Olajuwon schooled a young O'Neal in the series, using his experience and savvy offensive game to dismantle Orlando. O'Neal would go on to win championships of his own, but unfortunately for the Magic they came with other organizations. Orlando reached the NBA Finals again in 2009 thanks to another top center, Dwight Howard. Howard and a barrage of three pointers made up the Orlando attack that season, and though the team couldn't win the NBA title, they showed that they were a real title contender for the next couple of years. The Magic are hoping to break through and win their first championship as soon as possible.

Orlando Magic Fans

The Orlando Magic play some exciting basketball each and every time they hit the hardwood, and fans line up to see it unfold in person. When it comes to the postseason, the action is all the most intense, and the fans of the Magic love to show up to the arena to cheer on their favorite team. These are some of the greatest fans in the National Basketball Association, and that will be obvious to you when you head out to a postseason game the next time the Magic reach the playoffs.
