Over the Rhine Background
The genesis of Over the Rhine dates back
to 1989. Two years later the Ohio-based folk music groupissued their autonomous, Till We Have Faces, with the title adapted
from the book authored by C.S. Lewis. Patience, also independently issued, followed in 1992. Later on, they inked a deal with
the monsterlabel, I.R.S. Records. IRS obtained Over the Rhine's first pair of releases and re-issued them. The record label
also cut the check to finance the band's LP release, Eve. In 1996, their record label changed hands and Over the Rhine were
no longer under obligation to issue five albums. Good Dog, Bad Dog and The Darkest Night of the Year dropped next, which Over
the Rhine released independently. Virgin Records/Back Porch put them on the payroll and issued Films for Radio to worldwide
praises. Ohio dropped next in 2003, followed by Drunkard's Prayer two years later. They came out with several more albums
over the remainder of the decade. Their latest effort is Blood Oranges in the Snow, which arrived in 2014.
