OVO Music Festival Schedule
OVO Music Festival in Toronto began in 2010 and has only gotten bigger and bigger with
each passing year. Clearly the popularity of the festival has a lot to do with its host, rap superstar Drake who named the
festival after his record label. The starpower behind the festival allows OVO Music Festival to bring some of the biggest
recording artists in the world to its stage when it takes place each year in early August. The first festival brought in Jay-Z,
Eminem, Young Jeezy, Bun B, Fabolos, and Kardinal Offishall. This year's OVO Music Festival will take place over two days
and is shaping up to be the best one yet.
Each year OVO Fest is riddled with special guests, and no one in the audience
knows who they will be until the artists appear on stage. AS with years past, only the headliners for each day of the 2014
festival have been announced prior to the show, and this year's two headliners are the cream of the crop. Headlining the first
night will be the reunited Outkast, while Drake himself will headline the second night. This year's festival will take place
at Molson Amphitheatre on Sunday August 3rd and Monday August 4th with festivities beginning at 7:00 PM. It is held on Caribana
Weekend, which is a civic holiday in Toronto.
About the Artists
While no one can say for sure who all
of the surprise guests are who will appear at OVO Music Festival, one thing that is for certain is that the two headlining
acts appearing at the festival are two of the premiere hip hop acts in the world. Outkast, headlining the first night, are
at long last making a triumphant return following a hiatus that lasted several years. Their song Hey Ya! is just as omnipresent
today as it was when it was released more than a decade ago, and the group has won six Grammy Awards and sold more than 25
million albums, making them one of the most successful hip hop acts of all time. Sunday's headliner Drake is not only responsible
for the festival but is a wildly popular hip hop artist in his own right. He has released two platinum selling albums and
numerous hit singles including the song The Motto which is responsible for popularizing the term YOLO. He has also acted in
television shows, started a record label and won several awards including a Grammy, BET awards, and Juno awards. This is not
to mention the big name surprise guests who are always anxious to be a part of one of the best hip hop festivals in the world.
The 2013 OVO Music Festival was the fourth annual event and was the first to be held over two days.
It took place at Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto on August 4th and 5th, and sold out the venue. James Blake and Wale were the
scheduled performers, but big time special guests popped up including a reunion of P. Diddy and Ma$e, A$AP Rocky, Lil Wayne,
Kanye West, TLC, Big Sean, and more. This was far and away the biggest OVO Music Festival yet and proved that this is an annual
event here to stay that can support a two day schedule and still attract the biggest names in the music biz to perform.
Once you enter Molson Amphitheatre for OVO Music Festival you are immediately aware that you have
entered a special event. From the picturesque views and the beautiful green areas to the to the excited concert goers and
enthusiastic musicians thrilled to be part of such a magical weekend it is clear early on that this will be one of the best
concerts you have ever attended. The sound system and the unbelievable light shows put on are world class and will have you
believing you have been transported into another universe, away from all of your daily concerns and able to fully focusing
on partying and dancing the night away with your best friends and thousands of other music lovers. Music festivals are always
a great time and filled with numerous acts you might not otherwise get to see live, which is part of the fun. You never know
which performers will steal the show and surprise you as being one of the highlights. The festival is takes place on a single
stage meaning that you will never have to worry about missing some of your favorite performers which is all too often the
case at big music festivals.
Frank Ocean was scheduled to perform at the 2013 OVO Music Festival
but had to pull out at the last minute because of a bad back. OVO is also the name of Drake's record label and stands for
October's Very Own, the made up record label he attached to his early mix tapes.
