Growing up in southern California, Ryan and Taylor Lawhon spent their lives hearing the waves and squishing their feet into sand, having never experienced a real winter. But their breezy, sunshiney brand of pop has hit a chord with the Californians and music lovers across the nation. They began their career under the name KO KO, honing their skills and collecting influences from Kurt Ville, Damien Jurado, Twin Shadow, Alberto Giacometti and Gerhard Richter. They began playing with friends who had also grown up in the eternal sunshine of southern California, creating a unique sound and catchy tunes that would later help them become a popular band on download charts and among audiences of concert venues. Soon they were creating their new band identity and changing their name to Pacific Air to reflect their upbringing and to give a nod to those who helped them create their sound. But they've never forgotten their KO KO roots. They even named their album, Long Live Ko Ko, which pays tribute to the struggles and triumphs of being starving artists. While many of the tracks on their new album have become favorites of audiences everywhere, their single "Float" has become one of the most popular indie pop tracks among similar artists.
