But Michael Angelakos one-upped everyone's game in 2007 when he recorded a whole EP for his girlfriend. That was better than flowers—and earned notice from more than just his girlfriend. When friends heard it, they encouraged him to do more, leading to the formation of a touring band.
Dreamy, ethereal, and light-hearted, yet driven on by irresistibly danceable beats, Passion Pit's music left an impression on indie-rock fans once they started touring. They're a little bit emo crossed with indie-electronica of bands like Caribou. Once the band got that original EP re-released, they started generating lots of online buzz. In 2009, they released their debut LP, Manners.
