Patti Labelle Background

Patti Labelle was musically gifted from a young age. She joined the church choir when she was just 10 years old and started racking up the solos almost immediately, and in the late '50s she decided to form an all-girl doo-wop group called The Ordettes. This all-girl group soon earned a fantastic reputation in their hometown of Philadelphia, and eventually an executive from Newtown Records decided to sign the group and change their name to The Blue Belles. The group went on to have significant commercial success with hits like "Danny Boy", "You'll Never Walk Alone", and "Down the Aisle (The Wedding Song)". The group eventually renamed themselves Patti Labelle and the Bluebelles, and they had incredible success throughout the '60s and '70s.

Labelle began her solo career in 1977 with the release of her debut eponymous album, which met with phenomenal critical praise. During this time, she also pursued her love for musical theatre, joining the Broadway production Your Arms Too Short to Box with God, and also pursued film acting, appearing in her first movie, A Soldier's Story, in 1984. Her career has been more acclaimed and more successful than most artists can ever dream of. From getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to performing at the Super Bowl Halftime show in 1995, Patti Labelle has always stayed in the music spotlight. It doesn't matter whether she's acting on shows like A Different World or singing in front of a jam-packed arena, Patti Labelle always knows how to entertain an audience, which is why you shouldn't let this opportunity to see her in concert pass you by! Grab your Patti Labelle tickets on StubHub before they are all gone!
