About the Artist
Kalkbrenner has performed under several names including PK, Paul dB+, Kalkito, and Grenade but whatever moniker he is using
you can expect to hear some of the most compelling electronic music on the planet. He hails from Leipzig, Germany and got
his start playing at some of the hottest nightclubs in the area including Whale, Planet, and E-Werk. He was never the type
of DJ that wanted to just spin other people's music so from early on Paul Kalkbrenner made his own music. In 1999 he released
Friedrichshain EP on BPitch Control, a Berlin based label, and began a partnership with the label that would erase two full
lengths, a live album, and several singles over the next few years. In 2011 Paul Kalkbrenner released the album Icke Wieder
on his own label and would release another album, Guten Tag, on the label again the following year.
third album, Self, was released in 2004 just as things were beginning to pick up steam at BPitch and the narrative quality
of the album gained a lot of attention. A filmmaker, Hannes Stohr, was impressed by Self and sought out Kalkbrenner to make
the soundtrack for a movie he was making about an electronic music artist in Berlin. The two met and discussed the direction
of the film and before long Stohr decided that Kalkbrenner would be the perfect star for the picture. Soon after the script
was set and the star was in place Kalkbrenner began creating the soundtrack with his BPitch colleague Sacha Funke. Upon release
of the film the new actor as well as the film received excellent reviews and became an instant cult classic due to its accurate
portrayal of the electronic music scene as well as the drug culture in Germany. The soundtrack which featured the hit song
Sky and Sand became a best seller and broke several sales records and Paul Kalkbrenner had become a household name in central

Kalkbrenner is best known for and was part of the hit soundtrack of Berlin Calling. The song features vocals by Paul's brother
Fritz and became even more popular throughout the world after the film was released on DVD in 2009. Sky and Sand went gold
in Belgium and remained in the Top Ten there for ten weeks. After the success of the single and the soundtrack Paul Kalkbrenner
decided to separate from BPitch and venture out on his own for the next part of his career and completed a European tour which
