2014 400 Details

Forget it, let's go bowling. Formerly known as the Pennsylvania 400, the 400 brings all the excitement to Pocono every year as the best drivers around get together for an unbelievable race packed with heart-pounding excitement that every NASCAR fan wants to be a part of. Pocono is one of the most famous racetracks in the world for a reason, and it definitely isn't because it's lacking in spectacular motorsports events that tend to be the talk of Long Pond – not to mention the rest of the sport – leading up to the opening lap. Once you're there, with the buzz of the crowd steadily rising for all the crucial moments of the race, you'll see for yourself that there is no other way to really appreciate the total NASCAR experience than actually being there.

Pocono Raceway is always popping each and every summer for the 400, which is a tradition that isn't likely to change any time in the near future as it continues to draw the biggest stars of both today and tomorrow. If it's been a little while since you've headed out to an amazing NASCAR event, there has never been a better time to join in an unbelievable race packed to the brim with bench-gripping excitement, which has pretty much become standard operating procedure. Come out to this one and it's 400 miles of pure bliss, delivering a powerful experience that you'll be talking about long after it's all over.

2014 400 Drivers

Head on out to Pocono Raceway to see the 400 this year and you definitely aren't going to be disappointed when you're seeing what is sure to be a great race filled with nail-biting excitement that you won't find anywhere else, as this is a race that you can't capture from home or that disappointing bar down the street from your apartment. Guys like Bill Elliot, Richard Petty, Rusty Wallace and more have all won multiple times and you never know when the next all-time great is going to burst onto the scene with an amazing day that will put them on the next level of greatness at Pocono. As soon as you're there watching the top drivers around do their thing, you'll definitely understand that there is nothing close to the experience of being there when your favorite drivers crank it up coming down the home stretch. 400 History

With a rich history filled with unbelievable moments and jaw-dropping action, this is an event that is never lacking in excitement, giving you plenty of reasons to get out and see it for yourself as absolutely anything can go down on the racetrack when the top drivers in the world get together for a highly anticipated event. Bill Elliott holds the all-time record with a ridiculous four different wins, though a whole set of great drivers have taken down this one at least three times, including Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip and Rusty Wallace. You never know when you're going to see the next historic race that will be the talk of Pocono, a world-class racetrack that has been an iconic part of the local sports seen around Long Pond for decades.

2014 400 Trivia

Did you know that Bill Elliott once went 13 years in between wins?

After winning three times in the 1980s, Elliott struggled to get it going in the 1990s, though he retook his crown by taking down the Miller 500 (as it was then called) in 2002, giving him the all-time lead with four different wins at this Pocono event. Elliott is also the only driver to win back-to-back checkered flags at the 400, which is a feat that he accomplished in 1988 and 1989.

2014 400 Spectator Experience

Thanks to the enormous capacity, the unbelievable field of talented racers and a scope that you'll have to see for yourself to have a chance of understanding, NASCAR events, particularly when they go down at Pocono, tend to be as followed as any other sporting event you're going to find anywhere. NASCAR races aren't just sports anyway, as they're really cultural events with significance passed down from generation to generation. Though the drivers are great and the main reason fans turn up to see the action, the atmosphere in the stands is equally as important when it comes to capturing why NASCAR remains one of the most electrifying spectator sports in the world.

Perhaps more than any other sport, NASCAR is a sport that simply needs to be experienced live and in person to truly appreciate it, as a big-time spectator sport like this one gets taken to a completely different level when you get to actually participate in the action. Sure, high-def TVs are great, sort of, but the Pocono Raceway atmosphere gives you a different level of experience that you simply can't recreate through that disappointing little flatscreen in your living room. Instead, the better play is to actually head out and get knee-deep in the NASCAR culture during a great race that you'll be thinking about well after the checkered flag comes out.
