Peter White Schedule
As the years have rolled by, Peter White has managed to preserve his reputation has one of
the most dynamic and multi-dimensional musicians on the modern jazz music scene. White's career as a music artist has stretched
across almost four decades. He has issued over a dozen solo efforts and a string of live shows.
White attributes his
career's longevity to his fans. "I'll play a live show, and someone will come to me afterward and say, 'Oh, I loved this CD,'
or 'This song helped me through a bad time.' Or I get emails from people saying, 'Oh, I love the way you covered one of my
favorite songs on your record back in 1994.' The idea that someone can write me an email and tell me something I did on a
record that was released fifteen years ago, you can't buy that. That's priceless. That's what keeps me going - the idea that
people out there really care about what I do, the idea that I've made a difference for someone," he explained.
White can be seen at venues like the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California; B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York,
New York; Rams Head Tavern on Stage in Annapolis, Maryland; Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, Georgia; and Florida Theatre in
Peter White Background
Peter White's interest in music is rooted in his childhood.
In his formative years, he was schooled in multiple instruments, including the violin, trombone, piano and clarinet. Popular
bands of the day, such as the Stones and The Beatles, of course inspired him to eventually pick up the guitar. In his early
teens, White bought his first electric guitar and dedicated time to reviewing the recordings of guitar heroes such as Jimmy
Page, Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. A fire that destroyed White's electric guitar forced him to go back to the format that
he initially started out on - acoustic guitar. Instead of poring over information about Clapton and Hendrix, White shifted
his interests to acoustic musicians like James Taylor and Crosby, Stills and Nash. Whether it was electric or acoustic, Peter
White knew by the time that he hit his late teens that he wanted to be a musician. When he was 19, he played his first professional
show at an England resort. Then, Al Stewart invited White to join his band. White toured with Stewart's band as the group's
keyboardist, taking stages in Scotland, the U.S. and England. White also collaborated with Stewart on the Year of the Cat,
which became a monster hit in 1976. The collaboration forged a two decade-long association with Stewart in which the pair
co-penned several tunes, including "Time Passages." White and Stewart pulled up stakes and moved to L.A. at the beginning
of the 80s. They established a band known as Shot in the Dark and founded Lobster Music - a music publishing company.
over a decade serving as a session and backup musician, White embarked on a solo career. His first release was Reveillez-Vous.
The album featured some tunes that White had crafted for Stewart that were never released before. As the 90s soldiered on,
White continued to stick to a bold release schedule and he even made room for his friends. He lent his talents to artists
like Richard Elliot, Lee Ritenour, Boney James, Kirk Whalum, Jeff Golub, Rick Braun and Dave Koz.
He also maintained
a rigorous tour schedule, sharing the bill with a number of artists and he additionally founded the yearly Peter White Christmas
