Petersen Events Center History
Located on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh, this spectacular arena has
been hosting big crowds of sports fans and more since it first opened the doors in 2002. As home court for the university's
Pittsburgh Panthers NCAA basketball team, it's one of the hottest places in college athletics to catch a game and is an all-time
favorite facility for concerts, commencements and other events. Students, locals and tourists alike love to pack this place
and cheer for the Panthers or whatever hot band is up on stage. Often referred to "The Pete," the center was a winner of the
Innovative Architecture & Design Honor Award from Recreation Management in 2003. The facility has also been ranked by
USA Today as having the one of the best game time environments in the nation, and is well known for the rowdy fans that hit
the stands there. The venue has hosted many great games since its inception, as well as plenty of big name artists from Cher
to Hillary Duff to Counting Crows. It is the site for the Pitt Panthers women's basketball team games as well.

The Panthers are primed for yet another big season, and fans will pour into this arena to see the team hit the court in person
and take on some of the toughest teams that the NCAA will throw at them. As a member of Atlantic Coast Conference, one of
the best conferences in the sport, the Panthers host some tough teams each season. That will certainly be the case yet again
this time around, as programs like the North Carolina Tar Heels, Duke Blue Devils, Syracuse Orange and more will visit this
venue. The Petersen Center also sees some fantastic concerts hit the stage, and fans can catch Demi Lovato at this venue in
September before the college hoops season gets underway.
