Philadelphia 76ers Playoff Schedule

The Philadelphia Sixers will head into the 2014-15 season ready to make a big move up the standings. This young team is ready to rise in the ranks of the Eastern Conference, but it's going to take consistent play and an improved roster to get the job done. This team has one of the youngest in the National Basketball Association, but it has two very good building blocks to go forward with in point guard Michael Carter-Williams and center Nerlens Noel. The team also has a very solid veteran forward Thaddeus Young, who is coming off his best season as a pro. Still, this team needs more to make the postseason, even in a forgiving Eastern Conference, and they have the opportunity to stockpile talent this offseason. The Sixers have two draft picks in the top 10 selections in a strong 2014 NBA Draft, which should net them two good youngsters to add to their core.

If the Sixers can make the postseason in 2014-15, they'll be faced with a gauntlet of the best teams in the conference if they hope to reach the NBA Finals. While it would come as a surprise to many people to see this young Sixers team reach the postseason next year, just look at what the Portland Trail Blazers were able to do from one year to another. The Sixers definitely face an uphill battle, but their goal will surely be to contend in the Atlantic Division the best they can with an eye on the postseason. It should be an exciting season of Sixers hoops.

The last time the Sixers won the NBA Championship was in 1983 behind the duo of Moses Malone and Julius Erving. The Sixers were one of the most exciting teams in the National Basketball Association that season as well, and Malone was named both the regular season's Most Valuable Player and the NBA Finals MVP. The Sixers are looking to return to the NBA Finals sometime soon to capture another NBA Championship.

Philadelphia 76ers Trivia

Where did 2013-14 Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams attend college?

The answer is Syracuse, where he played two seasons for the Orange. Carter-Williams really broke out during his sophomore season at Syracuse, posting averages of 12 points, five rebounds and seven assists per game, flashing an all-around skill set that had NBA general managers salivating over his talent. The 76ers scooped up Carter-Williams in the lottery of the 2013 NBA Draft and the youngster quickly took the reins of the Philadelphia offense and won himself the Rookie of the Year award. The Sixers are hoping he turns into a star player and helps point this organization in an upward direction.
