The Philadelphia 76ers - Schedule in 2013-14

The Philadelphia 76ers are ready to hit the hardwood this season to do battle with the top teams in the National Basketball Association. The Sixers have a team brimming with young talent following an eventful offseason that has this team looking like one of the most exciting groups of young players in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers will look for veterans like Thaddeus Young to lead this bunch in 2013-14, and perhaps through the rebuilding process as a whole. The Sixers finished fourth in the Atlantic Division standings last season, but were able to land two elite talents at premium positions in the 2013 NBA Draft in the offseason. By selecting center Nerlens Noel and points guard Michael Carter-Williams after trading away Jrue Holiday, the Sixers have shown that they're going in a specific direction now. Loaded with talent, this Sixers team could surprise a lot of people in 2013-14. They've got a home schedule packed to the brim with tough matchups, so the team will be looking for some serious fan support at the Wells Fargo Center this season.

The Sixers will be looking forward to any matchups with the Miami Heat this season. The Heat are coming off two consecutive NBA titles and are considered the favorite by many to earn a third this time around. The Heat have the best players on the planet in LeBron James, and slowing him down is nearly an impossible goal. The Sixers have some solid defenders on their roster, but to matchup with James physically is a tall task for just about anyone in the NBA. James is flanked by two All-Stars in Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, so even if a team is able to slow down James they've still got two very good players to worry about. The Heat also boast a swarming defense that can rattle even the most seasoned veterans. That's going to be a big obstacle for this young Philadelphia team, keeping their composure and taking care of the basketball when Miami puts the pressure on. However, if the Sixers can earn a victory or two against Miami this season it will go a long way in instilling some significant confidence in a young group of players.

Another tough team coming to the Wells Fargo Center is the New York Knicks. The Knicks won the division title in 2012-13 and boast one of the most potent offensive weapons in the NBA in Carmelo Anthony. Anthony is capable of taking over a game at a moment's notice, and fans love to come out to see this scoring machine go to work. Priority number one against the Knicks will be to slow down 'Melo, but that's easier said than done. However, if they can accomplish that goal they should be able to earn a big victory against last season's division champ. This should be a fun season for Sixers fans as they get to know some of the youngsters dotting the roster that could make up a big piece of the organization's future.

The Team

The Philadelphia 76ers are a professional basketball team that is a member of the National Basketball Association, the top hoops league in the entire world. The Sixers are in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division, where they're forced to battle it out with the Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics and New York Knicks for the division title on an annual basis. The Sixers have entered a rebuilding mode that has made them one of the more enticing young teams in the NBA. The Sixers made a huge splash on draft night in the offseason by trading All-Star guard Jrue Holiday and landing center Nerlens Noel and point guard Michael Carter-Williams in the lottery. Noel may not suit up at all during his rookie season due to an ACL injury suffered during the collegiate season, but Carter-Williams figures to have a prominent role on a young team looking for leadership on the court. With some veterans sprinkled in here and there on this roster, the Sixers should improve as the season progresses.

The Experience

When the Philadelphia 76ers hit the court this season, fans will be packed into the stands to see this young team compete with some of the best teams in the NBA. Being there in person is the best way to catch an NBA game, as these players will do things on the court that will amaze you when you're right there in the stands. The size and skill of these athletes is something you're not going to be able to truly appreciate from your living room, and that's why so many people flock to arenas all over the country throughout the season. Be a part of all the action when you head to the Wells Fargo Center in 2013-14.
